In response to a question that China and the UK successfully held economic and financial dialogue earlier this year, and the UK also reached trade deals with the US and India, what's China's comment and its expectations on its economic and trade relations with the UK, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Wednesday that China and the UK are both permanent members of the UN Security Council and major economies in the world. The relationship between the two countries holds great significance beyond the bilateral scope, said Lin, adding that strengthening engagement and cooperation between China and the UK is not only conducive to the development of their respective countries, but also to global economic growth, addressing global challenges, and bringing more stability and certainty to the world.

"As for the trade deals you mentioned between the UK and the relevant countries, I would like to point out that cooperation between countries should not target or harm the interests of third parties," Lin said.
